The Totem Poles
There are two totem poles: the SUN pole, which represents the masculine, Shiva, consciousness, the space in which all occurs, represented by an upward facing triangle, energy into transcendence. The MOON pole, which represents the feminine, Shakti, represented by a downward facing triangle, energy into manifestation.

The SUN pole starts with the Eagle, clear vision looking forward into the future. In his Heart is the Sun, enlightenment. He represents both the Air and Fire elements. The Eagle is supported by the Uruboros snake, biting his tail, representing the cycling of energy. Next is the Alpaca. This is Pachamama, the Earth Mother, like the sacred cow in the Indian tradition, Mother Nature who nurtures and provides, representing the Earth element. Next is the Jaguar, the embodiment of power and transformation over the conscious and unconscious realms, leading seekers into the light, illuminating and transforming obstacles. Pure consciousness. As such, he represents both Fire and Earth elements.
The MOON pole starts with the Owl, the eagle of the night, seeing through the darkness, aware of the subconscious undercurrents. Wisdom. She is standing on the full Moon, with vision above the forest. She represents the Air element. Next is the Wolf. She is intelligent, wild, free and social. A loyal protector and companion, representing the Earth energy. She is supported by sacred Mushrooms and the Frog, a symbol of metamorphosis, shedding old skin, bridging the Earth and Water elements. Next is the Otter, joyful, fluid and playful. A shamanic animal able to exist in both worlds, on land and water, representing the Water element. The Otter is supported by fish, the ocean from which all life began.
These poles were commissioned by Patrick & Gaby Holford, based on their own experiences with shamanic forces, and created by artist and sculptor Ben Taylor (Mometo.net), carved onto sweet chestnut from the forest in Wales.
